Newton's second law of motion, though it took centuries of difficult factual and theoretical research to achieve,
behaves for those committed to Newton's theory seem very much like a purely logical statement that no amount of observation could prove wrong. it toon centuries for difficult? it took centuries for difficult? behavesの前にthat、seemにsがつく、でどうだ 和訳せよ
In the examples I am thinking of the person continues to behave in what most people would agree is a normal manner, but one so remote from his old self that he appears, to those who know him, to be someone else entirely. In the examples I am thinking of(M)
the person(S)
continues to behave(V)
in what most people would agree is a normal manner(M),
but
one(person)(S)
[is](V)
so remote from his old self that(C)
he appears to be someone else entirely to those who know him
>>12は in の目的語としてwhat節と one(manner) が but で接続されてるんだろう
Presenting opposite characters permits the child to comprehend easily the difference between the two, which he could not do as readily were the figures drawn more true to life, with all the complexities that characterize real people.
Presenting opposite characters [S]
permits the child to comprehend easily the difference between the two, [VOC]
which he could not do as readily [文の一部を受けるwhich]
were the figures drawn more true to life, [ifの省略と倒置]
with all the complexities that characterize real people.
do=comprehend でその目的語がwhich、だから先行詞はdifference
正解!

New discoveries may conceivably lead to dramatic, even "revolutionary" shifts in the Darwinian theory,
but the hope that it will be "refuted" by some shattering breakthrough is about as sensible as the hope that we will return to a geocentric vision and discard Copernicus. >>1はseemをとって、その前のfor thoseのforをtoにすればいい
>>12はthinking of,
