ここの Why? は会話的にあり得ない。もし、ラジオ英会話を聞いている人が、将来外国の企業に勤めて、秘書から
Secretary: Mr. Smith is coming to our office at three tomorrow.
X: Why?
などとやったら、終わりだろう。
Do you know the purpose of his visit? とか、
Did he say anything about the purpose of his visit? とかが会話に使える表現で、普通そういうのを会話の本文に入れておいて、覚えられるようにするんだろうけどね。
