Agree or disagree:
More needs to be done to improve public safety

I agree more needs to be done to improve public safety. I would
like to explain the reasons in terms of car and technology.

Car accident victims can suffer serious injuries and the trauma
can last for a long time. Also road traffic injuries are the main cause
of death for children. So measures that takes the needs of vulnerable
road users into account are needed.

The rapid development of technology also threatens public safety.
For example, if someone, who is considered a friend, were to ask
children personal information online, they would be likely to give out
the information. So we need to limit the risks of identity theft.

For the above reasons, public safety should be improved by
reducing the number of traffic accidents and identity theft victims.

Where is your favorite place to visit on weekends? Be sure to make
specific points as to why you like visiting the place.

I like going to the theater. I especially like Shakespeare’s plays. He
wrote about timeless themes such as life and death, fate and free will,
love and hate. So having some time to see them gives me a deep
insight into human nature. Though some people may disagree, I
believe that seeing Shakespeare can be the best form of entertainment.

Should English Be Taught in Elementary School?

Many parents and others think that English should be taught in the
fifth and sixth grades of elementary school. But I think it is not a
good idea because there are not many teachers who can comfortably
teach the language.

Many elementary school teachers have not taught English nor studied
it and they cannot speak it. If they teach English, they are likely to
use incorrect English and demonstrate inaccurate pronunciation. So
students have little opportunities to speak with fluent English
speakers.

For the above reason, teaching English in elementary schools will not
work. I think it is necessary to introduce English education at kindergarten
and specialist instructors should teach the language to nurture the
Japanese who can work competently in international society

Traveling by Car or Traveling by Train

Some say that traveling by car is more convenient than traveling by train. But
I disagree with the opinion in some respects.
One reason is that trains always are on schedule. Trains do not get stuck in
traffic jams, so you can tell how long the journey will be.
Another reason is that traveling by car is more relaxing. Trains have more space
and you can enjoy the scenery from the train.
For these reasons, I think traveling by train is more convenient than traveling
by car.

A: Say, what do you think was the greatest invention or discovery of the
twentieth century?
B: That’s a hared question, because there were so many of them. But if I
had to name only one, it would be the automobile.
A: Why?
B: Because it has enabled us to travel long distances in a short time.
A: It may sound strange, but I take the opposite view. I think that was the
worst because it has been the main cause of road accidents.

The current situation of employment in Japan is very bad. According to The
Ministry of Health , Labor, and Welfare, only 40% of college seniors have
found new jobs by now. In addition, about 30 % of new graduates of junior
high schools have found new jobs. So the situation is at the worst level.

When I was a student, I didn’t have much money, so I would often listen to few
records which I had got with a supreme effort until it wore out. I remembered the
titles and the lyrics of all the songs. But now I have a huge pile of CDs and downloaded
music which I bought online and have never listened to. Sometimes, I even buy the
same music which I already have without being aware of it. I cannot help but feel
acutely that one takes better care of things when there is a shortage of them.

For example, we see people talking loudly on the phone even in public places where
its use shouldn’t be a nuisance to others.

I think I can choose products that are eco-friendly for the global environment.

For example, I can try to buy products made from organic ingredients so that
less chemical fertilizer will be used. Also, I can try not to buy products with
unnecessary plastic wrapping that does not return to the soil.

If more people try to buy environment-friendly products and be more eco-friendly,
we will move forward towards a more eco-friendly society.

This graph clearly shows that the smoking rate for men in Japan is higher than
that in any other country while the smoking rate for women is the lowest. One
possible reason is that many Japanese men begin smoking as a way to appear
cool but many Japanese women care about the health of the unborn baby and
do not start smoking.

Theme
Smoking Should Be Banned in Public Places

Introductory Paragraph
The number of cigarette smokers may have been declining but WHO says tobacco
still kills tobacco users and nonsmokers being exposed to secondhand smoke. In
Japan, it has become more difficult for smokers to find places to smoke but there
are many places that have smoking sections where it is allowed to smoke.

This essay argues that cigarette smoking in public places should be banned for
the following reasons: secondhand smoke can affect the health of nonsmokers:
smoking fire can be very dangerous: and children may try to smoke.
0039名無しさん@英語勉強中 (ワッチョイ 736c-pQAD)垢版2021/02/25(木) 16:31:03.67ID:ZAW79Byj0
Body Paragraphs
Secondhand smoke is smoke from a burning cigarette and the smoke causes many
health problems in infants, children and adults. It can cause breathing problems,
ear infections and pneumonia and so on. In adults, it has been linked with CHD,
stroke and lung cancer. An effective way to prevent secondhand smoke exposure
is banning smoking in any public places.

Smoking related fires are very dangerous. For example, a-45-year-old patient tried
to smoke in bed and set a ward on fire a few months ago. Staff repeatedly warned
him not to smoke but the heavy smoker lit a cigarette while he was still wearing an
oxygen mask and sparked a fire that caused a £50,000 damage.

There’s more than just one answer but it is possible that children think smoking
behavior is normal and want to smoke when they see adults smoking in public.
Some say there is no evidence that children start smoking because they witness
strangers smoking in public places but it is necessary to de-normalise smoking
for children.

Concluding Paragraph
This essay has presented three reasons why smoking in public should be banned.
Firstly, secondhand smoke is harmful and can cause numerous health problems.
Second, smoking in public can cause a fire disaster. Finally, tobacco use in public
places encourages children to smoke.
