As a whole, the book is not very easy to read;
you need good vocabulary if you are Japanese.
Some words and expressions are rather archaic, too.
I am still trying to find out how Gatsby was killed;
the style is not as explicit as stories by modern writers.

The characters are filthy rich and the story is
surreal to ordinary man like me.
Gatsby is obsessed with funny ideas on women and general aesthetics,
which not many readers seem to understand.

A huge billboard of oculist is freaky through the story.
The name of the Jewish firm that specializes in bookmaking, bootlegging, and loan sharking is “Swastika”
although it originally means happiness and good luck,
and I know the story was written before German Nazi era.
What a coincidence.

The book is only 140 pages or so.
It would not waste much of your time even if you don’t like it.
