知らない単語なら無視できるけど、なまじ知ってる単語だと訳したくなって迷路に入ってしまう。
まず、要らない単語は外す。

riddle は logical
answer は correct
unnexpected　意外は意味を持ってない単語。
「謎々は論理的、正解は予想外」　←　これ以上の意味はない。
あとは、while と but の意味をどう取るか、になる。

while： At the same time that: often used adversatively.
But ：Only; solely; merely.
while を逆説に、but は逆説に取らない、でこんな訳。
「謎々は論理的、ただ、その正解は予想外」

＜おまけ＞
これは、日本語にもあるパターン。

Q: Do you know why birds fly to south in the winter ?
A: Because it's too far to walk there.

これは英語を知らないと解答を聞いても分からない。
Q: "What letter of the alphabet has got lots of water?"
A: "The C (sea).　"

Q: Which letter is always trying to find reasons?
"y" (Why ?")

Q: What are the 3 important rings in life ?
A: Engagement ring, Wedding ring, and suffering. ←　これは粋だね。
