この場合の go for three days は、go for a three-day program とか go on a three-day event とか join a three-day program とかいうような意味で使われる。 これに似た英文をニュース記事から探し出してみる。Reuters 社(ロイター社)が 発信している記事だ。スポーツ選手である Brett Favre がどうやらアル中か何かの 中毒のようで、それから抜け出すための rehabilitation program に入るのだが、 そのときに I went for 28 days. つまり「28日の予定でリハビリに入った (アル中リハビリプログラムに参加した)」というようなことを言っている。
前後の関係がわからないと困るので、少し長めに引用する。大事な部分には ★の印をつけておく。
