I studied Japanese way back in high school/college because they required us to learn a second language. Mostly via online classes.
I literally threw a dart at a dartboard and it landed on the Japanese section. So that's the language I learned.
I eventually got into watching sci-fi anime like Ghost in the Shell (攻殻機動隊) and was interested in the 戦国時代 stuff + Japanese video games. The porn I couldn't care less about.
