慰安婦問題に関する第三者機関の資料として、
1944年に米軍がビルマに於いて捕虜にした朝鮮人慰安婦20名及び慰安所経営者の日本人夫婦2名から聞き取り調査をし作成したミッチナ捕虜尋問調書があります。

Early in May of 1942 Japanese agents arrived in Korea for the purpose of enlisting Korean girls for "comfort service" in newly conquered Japanese territories in Southeast Asia.
The nature of this "service" was not specified but it was assumed to be work connected with visiting the wounded in hospitals, rolling bandages, and generally making the soldiers happy.
The inducement used by these agents was plenty of money, an opportunity to pay off the family debts, easy work, and the prospect of a new life in a new land, Singapore.
On the basis of these false representations many girls enlisted for overseas duty and were rewarded with an advance of a few hundred yen.

1942年5月初旬、東南アジアの日本の新たな占領地での"慰安サービス"の為、
朝鮮人少女達を集める目的で日本人の業者が朝鮮に到着した。
この"サービス"の有りのままは具体的に告げられず、病院に負傷者を訪問し、包帯を巻き、
そして一般的に軍人を喜ばせたりする関係の仕事だと装われた。
業者達が用いた甘言は、多額のお金であり、家族の負債を返済するチャンスであり、楽な仕事であり、
新天地シンガポールでの新たな人生の夢であった。
これらの虚偽の宣伝に基づき、多くの女性が海外での仕事に応募し、数100円の前借金を受け取った。


"comfort service"（"慰安サービス"）が従軍看護婦の仕事であるかのような虚偽の説明が業者から少女達に為されていた事より、
「慰安サービスをする人＝慰安婦」が軍人の性の相手をする仕事だという事が当時の朝鮮人に認知されていなかった事が確認出来ます。
