上のような場合には、
(*) make successful my trip
(*) make successful it
とはならない。基本的には、目的語が短ければなるべく "make 目的語 補語" という
順序の方が規範的でわかりやすいと英語ネイティブが感じるからだろう。

しかし補語が長くなると順序が逆になる。今回の
make gentle the life of this world
は、目的語がかなり長いので gentle を前にした方がわかりやすいし言いやすい。
まあしかし、これくらいだったら make the life of this world gentle でも
十分かもしれない。しかし、ネット上で見つけた次の場合はどうだろうか？

Movement's rally which is scheduled to be held in Quetta on Oct 25★.

ここでは、"make successful + 目的語" のうち、目的語の部分が
"the Pakistan ... October 25" というふうに、きわめて長くなっている。
こんなときには、絶対に successful を最後に持ってくるわけにはいかない。
そういうときには、必然的に successful を前に持ってくることになる。
