This Japanese lawmaker doesn't think LGBT people deserve social welfare because they're not “producing” children.
この日本の議員は、LGBTの人々が社会保障を受ける資格があると考えていない。彼らが子供を作れないというのが理由だ。
"Why should we spend tax money to support homosexual people who don't produce [children]?"
「なぜ（子供を）生産できない同性愛の人々を税金で助けなくてはいけないんですか？」
This Japanese politician thinks LGBT people don't deserve social welfare because she says they can't have children.
この日本の政治家は、LGBTの人々は子供を持つことができないので、社会保障に値しないと考えている。
Mio Sugita is a lawmaker from ruling Liberal Democratic Party.
杉田水脈は日本の与党、自由民主党の議員だ。
A resurfaced interview she gave to an online talk show back in 2015 is causing public outrage in Japan.
杉田が行った2015年のオンライントークショーでのインタビューが、改めて日本社会で批判を招いている。
"I was asked about LGBT education in schools. I said of course there's no need for such a thing."
「LGBT教育を学校でやってほしいと頼まれたんです。もちろん言いました、そんなものは必要はありませんと」
Then the interview got worse:
インタビューはますます酷くなっていく。
"They told me that the suicide rate among homosexual children is six time higher than that of normal children."
「彼らは同性愛者の子供は正常な子供より自殺率が６倍も高いと言うんです」
"'Do you still think it's unnecessary?' They asked me." [Laughter]
「なのに必要がないと言うんですか？なんて聞いてくるんですよ」（一同笑）
