This thread is much better than before. As far back as 10 or so years ago, what people did here was either abusing other people or spitting out a nonsense.
Now there is a conversation! A great progress!

According to Japan Meteological Agency, there were earthquakes last night (although there are always earthquakes of various degrees everywhere in Japan).
Out of them, the largest one that occured during the night time hours was a M5.9 one at the Fukushima offshore.

What do you guys think about the problem between Spain with Catalonia?
Spanish government and Spanish police did too much because 337 people have been injured, some seriously.
I feel the existences there are stil many downtrodden regions ignored.
After WW1, we accepted ”the right of peoples to self-determination.”
About Catalonia, only Catalan can determine themselves by themselves.
Spanish law court ordered to refrain from doing Catalan independence referendum.
However, activists of Catalan didn't
listen to them and put through the vote.
That was obviously illegal. But why they have to been injured? There must be a more peaceful way to solve it among regions.
In the first place, EU aim to take borderlines away, right? They may glad to see this situation.

I see that now. Interesting, I had this board bookmarked, but I guess it redirects here now. Is 5ch a different site than 2ch?

I'm very high tonight. I've smoked a lot marijuana and taken 711mg of dextromethorphan, so tonight should be fun.
I got curious and looked dextromethorphan up in my Japanese to English dictionary, but it wasn't there. I guess it would be katakana デキストロメトルファン?

Anyway Japs, what do you think of how Trump is handling North Korea? Every time I watch the news I to die from humiliation.

Hello crazy man.
Take care of your health.

2ch and 5ch is different site and each site of them is provided by different servers having different IP addresses.
Now the access to the old 2ch.net domain seems to be redirected to 5ch.net domain because of the sites are in the transition phase.

I don't have any idea what Trump will do in the next step, anyway, I want North Korea to stop their nuclear development.

By the way, where do you live?
Stop calling us Japs.

When you are learning a foreign language, there's always such a risk. So you have to be careful.

When I just started out learning English by going around English websites, I always kept it in mind that there's a risk that I could mistakenly learn the wrong English, even from native speakers.

I decided at some point that when I learned new words and expressions, I'd rely exclusively on reliable sources such as paperbacks, dictionaries, and textbooks.
But as a means to actually use what I learned, I could utilize places like this thread where chatters are not necessarily native speakers.

To put it shortly, it's all up to you how you make the best use of available things.

When we were in school, we learned english from japanese teacher, right? That was a huge risk. We used to listen to wrong pronunciation and incorrect accent from japanese teacher.
It is too late to mention about risk now.

You sound like, "I'm already fat enough, so there's no need to tell me how to avoid putting on weight"

Well, the pronounciation problem aside (which I don't think matters a lot), what we are taught in school is mainly grammar. So it's fine.

Whether you can utilize it well or not depends on how you make it to the next level on your own. It's not the fault of school teachers.
I mean, in such a short period of time, how possibly can a school teacher make his student a fluent English speaker?

A cuss is a crude or offensive word. "Cuss" can also be a verb, which is to speak in an offensive manner.
It can also simply refer to a person, but this is an archaic usage and you will most likely never hear the word used in this way.

>>894
You can attain a functional understanding of a language from textbooks and dictionaries,
but being able to produce natural-sounding writing and speech, regrettably, can only be accomplished by spending a lot of time reading and listening to native speakers.
While almost everyone here can be understood fairly well, the relative inexperience with English is pretty obvious.

I don't mean any offense; your efforts are commendable. Y'all are certainly far better at English than I am at 日本語.

You are very kind
one more queston, please

Then, what kind of word should I use for "cuss"?

”That's what happens when an infamous cuss of 2ch learns English.”

in Japanesea、I meant..

「悪名高き2chのクズがちょっと英語を覚えると、こだれよ!」

Thank you.

I'm not saying that using textbooks and dictionaries is enough, nor spending time reading and listening to native speakers is no use.
But imagine this case, a non-native speaker wants to learn Japanese and he decides to go read around the 2ch posts to learn the language.
He'll end up in a disaster for sure. Especially when you are at a beginner level, it's much safer to resort to the reliable sources.

If I'm understanding 「クス/クズ」 correctly, then there are many words you could use to express a similar sentiment.
"Loser" is probably the most universal, or perhaps you could use "Lowlife." Different speakers and cultures have different ways to describe undesirables.
These are two words which are less vulgar.

Ah, of course. Personally, I'd say being exposed to conversational language early on isn't necessarily bad;
the more you can apply your knowledge, the better. As you say though, what is often spoken isn't always what is technically correct.
Beginners should certainly keep this in mind even when listening to natives.

the population of japan will continue to decrease
and most of the people, who are currently in their 30's or 40's won't be able to retire until the age of 70 or 75
to maintain the japanese social welfare system that the authorities have been proud of.
the oldest sales rep at my company is 80 or 82years old which i feel is surprising at first.

It really depends on the person you are married to.
I'd say Chinese isn't a good choice in general, but
I have some friends from there I'm happy to get married with
if I have to.

You will not get married with their government and
there is no generalizable rule about marriage.

last month, a soapland girl who i meet from time to time asked me a question.
"why do you come to see me?"
it sounded to me like an interviewer at a job interview asking me "why did you apply for the position "at our company"?"
i am inept at answering suck a question, so i couldn't reply back to her.
