Oil-dependent states like Oklahoma and Texas were reeling from the lower prices and lost earnings. “Texas, priding itself as the oil capital of the world, had already lost 20,000 jobs over the last year,” according to Todd Staplesof the Texas Oil and Gas Commission, and “that’s just the beginning of this phase.” Staples (accurately) predicted that by April 22, “it was going to get worse before it gets better, which is why the economy needs to get going again.” Gets one to wondering if the oil industry is partly behind the push by the Governor of Texas to “open up” its cities and get workers back on the job, despite the possibility of contagion through close contact.
Gets one to wondering if
>>Gets one to wondering if the oil industry is partly behind the push by the Governor of Texas to “open up” its cities and get workers back on the job, despite the possibility of contagion through close contact.
(3) to get someone to [do] ならどんな辞書にも載っているが、 to get someone to [doing] という表現はそこら辺の辞書には見当たらない。
to get someone to [doing] はおそらく、「(人)に〜させる」という 意味だろうと思う。
(4) the oil industry is partly behind the push
(5) the push by the Governor of Texas to “open up” its cities and get workers back
ただし gets の前に which とか all of which とか it とか this などの主語がついた例文が並ぶ。 .
New York Times, The Economist, Wall Street Journal
この last years' は間違いで、正しくは last year's だわな。
New York Times, The Economist, Wall Street
今回の Gets one to wondering...

(1) Four thousand fifteen days past the Water,
the Mississippi のことかな?the Gulf of Mexico のことかな、とも思うが、その可能性は低いと思う。
with をつけて "with white socks pulled up to his kneecaps" という 意味だと考えればいい。
(5) one gold picture frame around his front tooth.

My dog was right about you.
What my dog said about you was correct.
(2) My dog was just crazy about you. My dog loved you.
(3) My dog (or my hotdog, or my penis) was exactly in the vicinity of your body.
(4) My dog (or my hotdog, or my penis) was just (or absolutely) crazy about you. 0216名無しさん@英語勉強中 (ワッチョイ d7ab-WyE1)2020/05/25(月) 12:16:01.59ID:YtwuK8/40 The last time my intelligence felt this insulted was when Oscar Pistorius expected us to believe he thought his girlfriend was an intruder.
0221名無しさん@英語勉強中 (ワッチョイ d7ab-WyE1)2020/05/25(月) 23:46:59.58ID:YtwuK8/40 on the web of the left hand
It is surely disastrous historical bad luck that this unprecedented global threat is occurring just as independent nation states are re-emerging, in so far as they ever disappeared, as the essential players on the international stage at the expense of international institutions: the UN and EU were losing influence pre-epidemic and have been marginalised since in the last six months. Nation states are not only very much back in business, but they are increasingly run by far-right nativist populist leaders, of whom Trump is only one of the more crazed examples. Most of these are proving highly incompetent in dealing with the pandemic and none are likely to favour international cooperation.
It is surely disastrous historical bad luck that this unprecedented global threat is occurring just as independent nation states are re-emerging, in so far as they ever disappeared, as the essential players on the international stage at the expense of international institutions
