if you’re going to spread videos & photos of the police being civil, please also post the videos & photos of the violence they are starting. it’s our job. the media isn’t going to show it. change won’t happen if the world cannot see what needs to be changed.
But that’s all I’m seeing on the news. Not the good that’s out there. At least in my experience so far. My desire to learn how to be of service more for my friends who are effective by this has been listening to their desire to see more positivity. To see change.
wholeheartedly agree that listening to black people right now is the most important part of this. I also agree that it’s ok to spread the positive videos. but the negative ones shouldn’t be hidden just because they’re negative y’know?
I hear you. And I’m not asking you not to do what you feel is right. I’m activiely choosing not show that as I would rather put my efforts in learning more, sharing postive moments. That what I find inspiring and certainly gives me hope.
I can totally understand that, & again, if that’s where you’re being steered by black people in your life, it’s not my place at all to speak over them. but hiding the evil they are doing is hiding what we’re protesting against.

Ernest Hemingway の "For Whom the Bell Tolls" の一節だよな。
>>the problem it would have been to surprise the posts and blow it in a normal way
It would have been a problem to surprise the posts and blow it in a normal way.
ここで冒頭の It は意味上の主語であり、"to surprise ... and blow ..."
"would have been ..."
the problem it would have been to surprise... の the problem のあとの it would have been は the problem と同格なのではなくて、関係節だと思う。
and having seen ... and worked out and simplified the problem..., he resented Golz's orders, and the necessity for them.
0342名無しさん@英語勉強中 (ワッチョイ f3ab-+Do1)2020/06/11(木) 09:37:13.64ID:P/9SjgGU0 The idea that women like me, who’ve been empathetic to trans people for decades, feeling kinship because they’re vulnerable in the same way as women - ie, to male violence - ‘hate’ trans people because they think sex is real and has lived consequences - is a nonsense

When costumed heroes wear masks, it is to protect their loved ones, since they incur vicious enmities in standing up to the bad guys. Protecting the weak and innocent was key to masculinity as conceived in the 1950s when I was a kid. I can’t get used to the new Trumpian “masculinity” that is based on letting the devil take the hindmost. In the sea disaster movies, they let the women and children off the ship first. Nowadays the guys want to jump into the life boats and leave the women and children to fend for themselves. That’s what refusing to wear a mask amounts to.

I live in Rhode Island and teach English online with "Zoom" to the people in various countries, and three days ago this incident happened. It was my first lesson for a Japanese female student. Until then I had ever given lessons to Japanese men, all of whom were so polite and modest as I had imagined. In the beginning, she took lessons earnestly and we talked gaily about the recent news, and so I felt nothing strange save that she seemed slightly drunk. Never had I imagined that I would come across that improbable thing!
About half an hour later, I recognised her to be sexually excited. She suddenly put off her clothing naked, and shouted, "Show me your dick, and fuck me!" I was totally perplexed with the hideous scene before my eyes, so that all that I could do was to say, "Do me a favour and stop it... I have a wife and children." Contrary to my prayer, Zoom was mercilessly displaying these unnamable pictures, and moreover, she began that deed with her fingers (which was so blasphemous that the Almighty would be sure to punish me if I described what she did).
To me, those twenty minutes seemed like as many hours. The shock given to me is such that, even now that I am writing this, I sometimes feel as if she stood outside the window. At the same time, I dreadfully sympathise with the Japanese courteous and gentle men, who are obliged to coexist with such women. Trump tempts fate with Tulsa rally during pandemic and a national racial reckoning
