The Tokyo Metropolitan Government is urging people to refrain from going out unnecessarily as a new type of coronavirus is prevalent in the city from the 28th to the weekend.
While Tokyo cites shopping for daily necessities and trips to the hospital as necessary outings,
it also urges people to think about what they can only do on a given day, such as cutting back on the normal year's cherry blossom viewing.
In an interview with NHK on the evening of March 27, Mr. Koike called on young people in particular to refrain from going out in an emergency,
citing the danger of spreading the virus to people who are unaware that they have been infected.
