われわれの目的は、カトリックやアングリカンの権威にすがることではなく、本来の聖書を多面的に読むということである

古代ギリシア語を読める学者にしても、ギリシア語テキストだけで読むひとはいない。

AV(KJV)なんぞTextus Receptusからの翻訳で、悪名高いComma Johanneum入り。16－19世紀ごろの英国文化理解の一助にはなるだろうが、イエスやパウロや1～2世紀の原始キリスト教の思想に迫る目的では、もはやゴミである

それからRSVは英語圏では非常に評価が高い。もともとプロテスタント訳であったが、公式カトリック版も出たほどである。聖書学会が保守的になる直前に出た訳なので、進歩的で非キリスト者にも向く。

Textus Receptus はエラスムスが校訂した版であるが、彼はあんまり古い写本を入手できなかった。参考にした写本のほとんどが、今日では見向きもされないビザンティン型である。

ルター訳は、ルターの生前から今日にいたるまで何度も改定されたが、AVは綴りが改められた他には改訂されなかったはずである。それは400年の年月に耐える訳であったからでなく、王と教会の都合で権威付けから過ぎない。

口語訳がRSVの逐語訳になってるのは偶然ではない。口語訳はRSVの重訳なのである。このキリストと神を同一視しない読みは、Bible de Jerusalem やその日本語企画であるフランシスコ会訳とも共通する。

これが、NIVの本文では次のようになる

Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of the Messiah, who is God over all, forever praised! Amen.

キリスト様は神さまだよ、とパウロが他のところでは全く口にすることのないキリスト論を開陳するのである。

われわれはこのような程度の低い訳に付き合ってられない。というわけで、RSVを選ぶわけである。

人間は不完全な存在だからいろいろ間違いを犯す
原始キリスト教の時代にはグノーシスをはじめいろいろ異端がいたし、聖書も間違って伝わったりした
その当時の間違った版を根拠に、正しい版のこの部分は加筆だとか言い出せば、キリスト教は崩壊する

一方、神は完全だから、そんな人間の間違いを予測して、正しい道がわかるような道しるべを用意してくれた
それがヨハネの黙示録だ
その終わりの方に、こう書いてある

「ゲイを罪として否定する聖書が嫌い」ってことを前提に言わせてもらうと、そもそも罪というものは、アダムとイブが禁断の実を食べて以降全人類が持ってるものだぞ
最初に殺人の罪を犯したカインに対し、神は彼が真摯に反省してるのを見て、追放刑以上の責を追わせなかった
それどころか、追放先で人に迫害される恐怖を語るカインに対し、カインを責めるものには7倍の報いを与えるとまで約束している
自分の罪に真摯に向き合えば受け入れてくれるのが、神の愛というものだよ
それなのに罪から逃げようとして聖書の改ざんまでやろうとするのは、自分で自分を追い込む行為だと気付いてほしいものだ
