The president of japanは日本が強調されてフォーマルになるので(ソースはDUO)、前者と同じ所有格+名詞であるyesterday's eventに強調のニュアンスは生まれないのでは？

ただ、実際読んでどうかってことを考えた場合。

確かに違う考え方することもあると思うよ。
例えば受動態。
I was born.には明らかにby my motherが省略されてるが、それを何故省略するのかってことを考える。
この場合、後ろに付けたby以下、『母親』っていう当たり前過ぎる情報が強調されちゃう。
そういう状況もある。

英語って、どの水準の話聞きたいのかがよく分からんが。
とりあえず、Tips程度でよければ気が向いたら書く。
まず大前提。
英語の基本は『型』だってこと。
五文型(違う分類の流儀もあり)とかのアレ。
細かい原則論はともかく、いきなり具体例でイメージ説明しようか？
分かりやすいのだと第四文型。
あれは通称『授与型』とか表現してるテキストもあるが、まあそういう意味。
便宜上、SVOOをSV◎○と書き換える。
この型だと、大雑把に言えば『Vの単語に関わらず(まあホントは無秩序に何でも良いって訳じゃないが)、◎に○を与える』って感じの文になる。

例文。
I got the book.
と
I got you the book.
の二つの『get』の訳。

一個目の訳は良いわな。『本をゲットした』ってそのまんま。
問題は第四文型の二個目。さっきの原則に照らし合わせれば、『手に入れる』という意味で訳しがちなgetが『与える』となる。意味が『逆転』しちゃうんだよね。
つまり、こう。
『私はあなたに本を与える』
正確には、getの本来の意味である『手に入れる』のニュアンスが残り、『(元々持ってなかったがどこかから調達して)与える』って感じになるんだけど。

こんな風に、英語は単語の意味が型に引っ張られ変化する。それくらい型の力が強い。
