まずは、軽いものから見ていこう。

「カメラはヨドバシカメラ♪」のあの曲は、実はもともとアメリカの讃美歌であ～る。

明るい調子とは裏腹に、内容が怖い(;^ω^)
というのも、歌詞がヨハネ黙示録を下敷きにしてるからである。
キリスト教は愛の宗教だとか言ってるが、実は、中世には黙示録がもっとも影響力を持ってたわけで、
イエスは厳しい裁きの神であった。

なお、ウィキペ日本語版の訳詞は、英語もキリスト教もまるで分かってないトンデモ訳なので、
参考にしない方がよろしかろう。

ついでに言えば、スタインベックの『怒りの葡萄』、直接的には歌詞１番の「the grapes of wrath」に
由来するだろう。もとをたどれば、ヨハネ黙示録の一場面なのだが、実は、聖書なんてわりと一般人には
読まれてないもので（ﾜﾗ、人々は、こーゆー讃美歌とか、聖句集で、聖書的言い回しを覚えていくのである（＾＾）

ウィキペ日本語版の訳詞より

Say! は詞的な O! ではない。讃美歌が仰々しいものだと思い過ぎ。

> hallelujah!　神に栄光あれ

ハレルヤに「栄光あれ」などという意味はない。

> Old John Brown’s body lies moldering in the grave
> いにしえのジョン・ブラウンの屍は墓の中で朽ちた

この old は「老」とか「なじみの」の意。
大体、ブラウンの死後２年後に書かれた歌詞に「いにしえ」てさぁ～(;^ω^)
原文の時制、現在形。
肉は朽ちつつ横たわってるけど、魂は行きゆく、というのがこの歌の趣旨ぢゃないの。

当たり前だが「主」。それから He を「彼」と訳すべからず。
どこの日本人が主なる神を「彼」と呼ぶんだ。

これは「主の日 The Day of the Lord」、つまり審判の日のこと。

所詮は大衆歌曲なので、あまり難しく考える必要はないと思う。
怒りの葡萄からできた（酒樽とかにはいった）葡萄酒を踏みつけた、ということだろう。
store が文意に不適だが、韻をそろえるために、やむを得ず使ったに過ぎない。

なお、RSV (1946) でも葡萄酒の意味で vintage を使ってる（Rev. 14:19）。

righteous sentence は正しい文（なんのこっちゃ？）でなく、正しい審判だろう。
次の文の、主の日が来るという文脈に合う。

steel は新英和大には刀剣とあるが、ネットであれこれみてると、銃に解す人が多いようだ。

二つの目の deal with がやや文意に不適だが、脚韻のためだろう。

ひどい解釈ｗ

これは、北軍には神がついてる！　南軍は悪魔！　ゆきゆきて神軍！　というナイーブな歌。
北軍に、黙示録の神の軍を重ね合わせたに過ぎない。

ついでに、ウィキペ日本語版の訳詩を多少訂正した。
まだ誤訳はあると思うけども、だいぶマシにはなっただろう┐(´∀｀)┌
