ルネサンス期の作曲家 Thomas Campion (1567 ?1620) は、そのアクメがほぼシェイクスピアと同じ。 代表曲のひとつである Never Weather-beaten Sail は、もとは恐らく世俗曲だったと思われるが、 18世紀ごろから讃美歌としてポピュラーになったらしい。
