If every car become autonomous, I wonder how many people keep holding their cars.
Ride sharing would become major and less and less people may have their own ones.
Every car could become Taxi essentially, we are going uncharted Territory.

i just found a litttle spider taking a rest on a wall in my room.
for a long time in japan, spiders in your house are considered an "amulet"
to protect your house from the evil so you shouldn't kill them inside your house.
ok, i will let him/her stay where it is now...

abe sada (阿部定) case is definitely one of the famous murder cases in the showa era.
when she killed her boyfriend, she cut off his genitals and ran away with them.
it is said that she told the police later that she cut off and cherished them because she wanted to have him to herself.
so, it means that for some women, a penis is a symbol of a man they love so much, doesn't it?

i think that it is so amazing.
if north korea launches nuclear missles and they fall on the tokyo area now,
my house and i myself will be blown away and explode into pieces.
i don't have such a cool shelter.

Yes, the person's English is very well, using complex senteces easily.
If what the person wrote is true, it may due to the lack of technical terms
or vast differences in speaking and writing skills.
That is not a rare case among English learners.

one impressive advice my former boss gave me to improve english skills is "to never use dictionaries".
she was born and raised in hongkong and her english was excellent.
a half of myself can now understand what she meant but the other half still rejects her advice.
anyway, native english speakers usually grow up without dictionaries at least before going to elementary schools.
and 6 year-old kids have a good command of english and can speak fluently.
a dictionary is not a must.

if you can buy something at supermarkets or discount stores and want to keep it inside a bag for carrying,
you can get a transparent/semi-transparent vinyl (plastic?) bag.
(sometimes, you need to pay for it.)
but when you buy some goods at drugstores, the sales clerks almost always put them in a black/silver/tangerine/etc bag
and hand it to you.
the bag is the kind that no one can see through.
do they do this for the purpose of protecting customers' privacy??

i intended to use a word "queer" instead of "strange" in an english sentence
and looke up the word in a dictionary, just in case.
surprisingly, "queer" had a different meaning other than "strange"
and for that meaning, the word was classified as "taboo".
the advice comment in the dictionary said "never use this word.".

I am just so certain that PM Abe is not able to pass out reform that he had avoided for
so many years. He is so weak with economy and I believe people who is around him,
they are more close to the beauracrats rather than people.

It is 120% sure that our economy will collapse in this way but PM Abe seems to be not
aware of that. Or I say, the beauracrats and those people who earns power and money
from the way we are today, they'll just reguse the reform no matter what.

The same with the opposition party, especially Edano. Eventhough, they are so into
revising our Consitution, Article 9, they don't care about their own people. It is just so ugly out there
and I almost do have no word at all.

We have exactly not a lot of choice like this. I keep on saying, why the
opposition party chose Edano as a leader because when we think about our economy
the reform must be the top priority. Although, they just refuse.

Is that mean, they don't even care about people, as long as they revise the Article 9?

It something that I really do not understand. I really hope that someday, when we all understand
the democratic governement stands for it's own people, we have an opportunity to change
that Article 9 but I say, NOT NOW

Hi, guys. I've just watched a show about the site where you can find and watch tons of pirated manga.
In the show, one of the commentators said if this continues, Japan should face a serious consequence on its own arts & creation culture in the near future, and I totally agree with him.
They need to be closed NOW because its existence has no positive influence on anyone or anything whatsoever.
And I was wondering, what are your thoughts on this issue? I'm curious.

I see. Sometimes I doubt that younger generation even considers it as a problem.
Their logic behind it is like "Why's that bad? Everyone's doing it. Why not me?"
While I understand how their minds work that way,
they need to imagine that someone's life is at stake and that someone's made the very work they're fond of.

Haha, you are right about that.
However, you know those acts of freeloading can only be made at the expenses of others who's actually willing to pay money for they read.

> those acts of freeloading can only be made at the expenses of others
That's not true as well.
For example, imagine there is one person who pays and one who just downloads. The first pays, say, $1, and the publisher gets $1, and the other one pays nothing.
Now imagine there is one who pays and ten persons who download. The publisher will get $1 as before, and 10 persons will get their beloved content for free, but the one who pays will pay $1 - just as before.
So you can't say that those 10 people get what they want at his expenses, because the amount that he pays didn't change.

Pretty simple arithmetics, my friend.

WOW!! That's some well-put excuse for piracy. I've literally never seen like that kind of arguments before.
So, you are saying that "a dollar for 1 piracy" and "a dollar for 10 piracy", either of which will always lead to the same amount of profit, ergo, I can't say the piracy is achieved at the cost of the consumer.
I know what you mean there, but it seems like you are a bit off the points I was making.
What I wanted to say was, unless the authors are payed enough money to keep her/his work going, he has to stop working on their stuff and maybe find another job.
It's all about "paying or not paying", if everyone somehow decided to read their works for free and not paying even a penny, the result is obvious, the whole industry would be completely destroyed.
And so that's why I used the word "expense", piracy wouldn't be possible if it weren't for people who pay for them, or without their "expenses"

When it comes to the qaulity jump, Sakamoto is good. Watch and learn.

On the other hand, Miyahara is bad like tiny jumps, under rotation jumps which do not rack up points. But her other elements like presentation, basic skating skill, spin, step are far more superior than Sakamoto.

That's almost half the market price. I always wonder how they make a profit out of such cheap snacks.
Good job on buying all of them by the way, technically you left none for a child who may have wanted one.

Speaking of self-checkout machines, I once saw them back in Canada when I was on a short program for learning English.
It was my first time using them and I had no idea about what was the proper procedures to follow through.
I couldn't find any traditional cashiers at that time, and everything was written in stupid English and I was so lost.
I just had been standing in front of the machine like an idiot until a shopkeeper came and told me how I use them.
It was so embarrassing to the fact that even a 5-year-old child (I saw him) knew how and I didn't.
Ever since then I've been keeping myself from using it even if I see it available at any shop. In short, fuck that machine.

Asashoryu should shut up about Chinggis Khan in the gag manga.
At first I wasn't sure if his tweet was serious or a joke, but then the Monglian Embassy made a complaint on Facebook and the publisher has made an apology.
I don't know anything about Asashoryu, but judging from his tweets, he is stupid and shouldn't be in the position of dealing with diplomacy.

It's a kiddy textbook doodling gag in a kiddy gag manga that 9 year old kids read.
It's something kids do in real life. I did it a lot, too.

Some people have said it is akin to using a Japanese emperor in a gag manga, but that's totally off.
Chinggis Khan is one of those universal legendary figures like Caesar, Alexander the Great, etc.
Would anyone be offended if Caesar or Alexander was used in this gag instead of Chinggis Khan? I don't think so.

Whereas using a Japanese emperor in a gag manga would be highly political.
The equivalent of this would be using a Korean emperor/king, for example.

I really hope people aroud him tell him to stop the tantrum.
If this ends up creating some unwritten rule on manga, I will have to hate Mongolians.
And I don't want to hate them. Unlike some Mongolian sumo wrestler haters, I think they are great, except this one Asashoryu.
If you can't stand something like this elementary school penis gag in a manga, you shouldn't live in a foreign country in the first place.

We should respond to it reciprocally.
As long as he or some Mongolians felt it offensive, it must be addressed properly.

It doesn't matter if the person likes the country or not.
When a thoughtless tantrum has been thrown, it is a thoughtless tantrum no matter who threw it.

I have absolutely no problem with Asashoryu or any other Mongolians making a personal complaint about it.
But demanding an apology through the Embassy over this schoolboy's penis gag?
I want to ask them, how long did you think before deciding to make an official complaint?
Did you consider that cultural differences exist between you and this country?
Are you sure that demanding an apology over a schoolkid's gag is something you should do through your embassy

Mongolians are the ones who should learn to cope with it in this case. It's not like this gag is published every month to torment them.
In fact, even without their complaint, it was very unlikely that this particular gag would be drawn and published by anyone ever again.

Mongolians are still protesting about Chinggis Khan. I think I was wrong about him.

Although I doubt that any Mongolians are reading this post, I suggest that they hire someone else to do the diplomatic job.
People like myself think Chinggis Khan is just one of those legendary historical figures like Caesar, and no one knows the present godlike status of him.
And Asashoryu ranting like an idiot made it harder to understand. They need someone who can take their time to explain it.

But also there was one thing that smelled in this protest.
In front of the publisher's building, the protestors were holding placards that say 謝罪しろ (Apologize)
Why were they demanding an apology when the publisher had already apologized 3 days ago?
I smell a Chinese operation.

The best way to curb gun violences is eliminate weapons at all.
Japan did it in 1588 when Hideyoshi Toyotomi banned all arms.

I understand it's difficult because of the Second Amendment and NRA which has strong say in the debate.

This might be the issue of autonomy which was also the main focal point in the Brexit.

Those seem easy to address when looking from abroad, but become increasingly difficult issue when considering internal factors.

Looking through the news on CNN the other day, I came to know that there's one thing particularly conducive to gun related terrorism in the US, it's called bump stocks.
With the help of the tool, you could turn normal semi-auto rifles into deadly weapons for mass-shooting. The scary part is that just owning it is totally legitimate in current jurisdiction.
Of course, banning on having guns is the most effective solution to this, but since it won't happen soon, I think making those customization illegal is more urgent.

um, i am very sorry to haved delayed so much in replying, but if you could please allow me clarify...
"jesus" is just an exclamation that people make when they're surprised, shocked, angry, etc. it's sort of similar to "oh my god!" or "what the hell!"

jesus actually comes up a lot in colloquial conversation, lol. which kind of did make 445 sound ironic, considering the context.

btw my id is probably not the same as >>445 but that's cuz i'm using a different device. (my pc sucks, dammit)

no shame.
i've continued to lose a lot of things one by one like friends, social status, money, youth etc
and now i am almost a loser.
it sounds strange, but the more things i lose the more confidently and carelessly i can behave in a way.
it is because i don't have things that i don't want to lose any longer.

i believe that those, who have a lot of valuable things they don't want to lose,
tend to behave in a very conservative way in order to protect what they've already got in their life.
what they have done and what they have got are great and should be respected,
but they themselves are not interesting or funny anymore.

Yeah, it was hot, too hot.
I found it particularly hot during my daytime nap, so I checked the thermometer on my heater, it says 28 degrees!! HOLY FUCK! Is it summer?
I know the thermometer was exposed to direct sunlight and the measurement itself doesn't come with much of accuracy, but still?

Because people like to over-value things they are not familiar with.
Not knowing much of good or bad results in baseless infatuation.
You can also see that in how people always wish to be reborn in other countries, having little appreciation for what they own now.

Why not? I don't understand your question, but the Sengoku period has many figures of great personality,
so it's easy for writers and creators to make something out of it, I think.
Besides, a bunch of people in medieval armor making war and conspiring against each other is just fun.

Speaking of medieval war, I have just started reading 三国志 for the first time.
The story is long and going to take a few months to finish, I think.
After finishing it, I will finally be able to talk about 孔明's trap with other people.

I have lived in japan for 15 years but I don't like at all.
Lately, I was fired by the company I worked
over 10 years. I though I was considered a
veteran and worked as it shoud be. I worked overtime almost
everyday and did a hell lot of
job in spite of fairy low sarally. But one day I had an
argument with my boss over several
projects I had been working on. He never understood my point
and got unbelievably heated to tell me he didn't
need me any more.
SO MUCH for japanese society!

the other day, when i tried to turn right at a cross road,
cars which went straignt or turned left at a contrary lane continued so that i couldn't turn right.
i felt fairly nervous as the traffic light seemed to turn from green to yellow to red at any moment,
so i hardly got myself together...

Do you know why those places are always crowded? It's because our lonely grandpas/grandmas see them like some kind of cheap day-care centers.
They enjoy having chatters with a bunch of other oldies while people in need always get behind in their necessary treatments.
I totally welcome the idea of how our medical expenses will be reduced as we get older, but that doesn't mean one can take advantage of them, does that

Taxpayers money is spent to clear such garbages.
This is ridiculous because we are not the one that throw it.

Just finding out who's responsible won't do any good since only those who get caught learn lessons from that; not to mention that'd be extremely difficult.
My idea is putting up a poster with something along the lines of "CLEAN BEACH OF NICE VISITORS" which will be having good influence on people's behavior in the long run. Classic reverse psychology.
Secondly, keep beach clean by local officials everyday, then they won't even dare to make a mess there; which is another example of how people's minds work.

I've thought that my English is already good enough and there is no need to improve it anymore.
But today I came across an almost native speaker, who is actually Japanese, in one site.
That person shows me that we can progress without limit and that there is no time to be self complacent.

Well, off the top of my head I would probably get to the girls whom I thought were easy first, and "befriends" with them; because now I have more confidence in handling them so at least I'd have better shots.
Should have slept with so many of girls as possible when I could have, especially now that I'm one of those boring office workers I never get to even have a chance of meeting a new girl.

Anything else... I don't know. Sorry to let you down if you had expected me for more business-oriented ambitions.

I think only elites should learn English. I mean look at these stupid boring people.
What do they do with English? They just talk some empty nonsense and that's it.
Only elites who actually need to use English to achieve their goals should learn it.
For others, it is a waste of time. School hours should not be wasted on empty nonsense talking skills.
If non-elite people wanted to learn English, they should do it outside their school hours.

That's an excellent idea but it seems that the real obstacle to implement that
is to define who is an elite in younger age. Can we confidently select future elites
from a pool of kids when they are in elementary school?
Don't you think there will be a ton of oppositions from parents of non-selected
kids saying it's a discrimination?
Elitism is never been well-perceived in Japan.

Clearly, Buddhism is for 646.

Also we need more Buddhists in order to pressure China and solve the Tibet issue. That's why I'm spreading Buddhism in here.
Buddhism saves both you and Tibet at the same time.
Even if you decide you don't like Buddhism after studying it, it will be a valuable part of your education, so it won't be a waste.
Go to the library or a bookstore and try it. But there are some unpleasant Buddhist priests and scholars out there. Beware of them.
Reading their unpleasant books can be valuable experience though. It deepens your understanding of this world.

He seemed disappointed to himself, but the real issue is those shitty staffs, personally. They should communicate with customers in basic English.

While the proceeds and how to behave of funeral ceremony are relatively conventional in any places in all of japan, wedding ceremony and following reception is quite diverse.
First of all, you’ve got to understand what type of couple(bride and groom) will hold their ceremenony which you attend and what type of venue will be used.
Some couples want to pick a casual local small restaurant for the sake of saving money and avoiding getting attention,
whereas some want to select a huge luxuary five stars hotel like Hilton in order to make a boast of their financial power and personal connection as many of celeblities do.

Today I finally got to watch a live-stream clip from UMF Miami, and Hardwell!! I never disappointed in his sets.
His overall djing and selection of songs/genres were just EPIC as always. (just a bit less of Big Rooms and plenty of Hardstyles instead... but who cares? They were amazing anyway!)
On his performance I didn't even need to skip the scenes (which was fantastic!!)
I think one of the best qualities that famous DJs possess is that they do the transitions just the right timing and shifting it to another track that carries different vibes and refreshing tastes,
thus they won't even let the audience feel them being tedious or even repetitive. And this isn't something that ordinary djs are capable of.
This time again he was just being usual Hardwell :D Can't wait to see him at UMF Japan next September!!!

Looking out the window on the other side and the scenery passing by is one way to go, but sometimes people would feel uncomfortable about that, and so do I. Because it's almost as if they're staring at us.

Why does the air be felt so fresh-like the moment I take a step outside? I mean I leave the windows open most of the time, so there shouldn't be much of the difference in there. Am I just imagining it?

Yeah for a second I thought about that too, but usually it won't take a few minutes until the heat from my ac would be gone once I open the window, so there's no way the air's not all freshened out too by that time.
I suspect the change I feel actually comes from the difference in temperature or perhaps the wind? I don't know I suck at physics.
Even with the windows are open, the air is pretty stagnant here because of how my room was designed. (only 2 windows, lined up next to each other)

about 20 years ago, many teenage girls liked to wear boots with too thick heels
that were called "厚底ブーツ" in japanese.
the heights of those heels were well more than 10cm so it was a strange scenery
that humourously tall girls (taller than most men) walked around here and there in town.
you can easily imagine it can't you?

it seems to have been scientifically proved that people, who have a good habit of
jogging or swimming or cycling regularly, develop part of their own brains
which stimulates motivation/eagerness/positive attitude.
i need to exercise more...

yes and 1 thing i can't believe even now is that some girls drived their cars with those tall boots on.
some of them failed to put the brakes on in time to cause traffic accidents.
why didn't they imagine it would be very hard to put the brakes on???

An issue that huge can't be factored into single cause.
Is it Japan's shrinking workforce from the low birth-rate in recent years? Or Japan's economic policies? Rising JPY? Maybe there is a repeating boom and bust cycle and we are in the middle of the fall.
All we can do is wait for them to recover, and once we are through, we just provide the most reasonable ex-post-facto explanation for them, as always.

today, a large drawing caught my eyes in a station.
the drawing felt a little strange to me so i came over to it just out of curiousity.
and i realized that someone hadn't painted it
but that it consisted of so many pieces of colorful plastic pet bottle caps.
it was so spectacular.

how to put on japanese traditional clothes, including fundoshi.
it must be pretty embarassing if a fundoshi accidentally comes off a guy's body in train
during his travel to work...

I do not remember feeling when I first ate with a fork or a knife, but I think it was a fresh sense.
I had the experience of eating curry by hand in India before, but there was a slightly different fresh feeling.
I feel like I was playing mud when I was a child.

i rented and drived a car today.
the person, who had rented the car just before me, seemed to have left the radio on.
so, when i started the engine, i heard a piece of music being played from the radio.
i didn't want to be distracted by something while driving,
but i didn't know how to turn off the radio......

No. Until yesterday, I didn't know that this idiom was from the Bible, so I asked if people knew it.
I think it's kinda strange that a phrase from the Bible has become a commonly used idiom in Japanese.
Maybe it was just translated from some English book and spread from there.

When I first saw someone saying "kill two birds with one stone" in English, I thought 一石二鳥 was translated into English from Chinese.
But it was the other way around. It was an English idiom made into a 四字熟語.
