You are not supposed to make noisesやYou cannot behave like that などと Youを主語にして指示内容を言うはずだ。

681 ×He told the bookstore keeper that he would come there again to buy the book that afternoon. ×彼は書店の主人に、きょうの午後もう一度ここへ来てこの本を買いますと言った。
comeとthereがこの順番で並んでいる狂気の誤文。 「ここへ来る」の意味でthereは絶対に使えない。thereの定義は「手元に無い、向こう側」 go there はあってもcome thereという英語は存在しない。 visit the store againとするのが正しい。 There comes/came〜(〜が来た)の口語表現だけが唯一の例外。
最後のthat afternoonも店長に直接言ってるんだからin the afternoonの方が良い。 これはただの過去の記述文を直接話法→間接話法の書き換えと勘違いしてthatやthereを不自然に使っている例文なのだろうか。 0040名無しさん@英語勉強中2012/08/07(火) 16:39:06.23 例文684 ×As I was taking leave of my friend, he said he would be glad to see me again before long. ×私が友人に別れを告げると、彼は近いうちにまた会いたいと言った。
この訳文ではおそらくto不定詞部分を仮定・条件の意味で「近いうちにまた会えたとしたら嬉しい」と取っているが そんな用法はない。glad to see you といえばもう既に会っていて嬉しいという意味になる。 wouldの次にglad to seeとなっているので仮定なのか過去なのか混乱する。 glad to seeは目の前にある直接的な原因を受けてglad(嬉しい)としか解釈できない。 ○As I was taking leave of my friend, he said he would be glad if he could see me again before long.
glad to〜を「よろこんで自ら〜する」「すすんで〜する」の意に取った。 しかしこれから喜んで会いに来るのは電話をしているとか遠方から呼ばれたなどのシチュエーションであって、 別れを告げたタイミングで喜んで会いに来ると言われても奇妙な感じがする。 そもそも、この意味ではglad to do かglad to knowくらいしか用法としてありえない。
さらに、take leave of 人で「別れを告げる」はかなり古臭い表現。 glad to seeなんて易しい表現と組み合わせてる時点でも疑問。 take leave ofは take leave of absence「離職する/暇を取る」くらいしか普通使わない。 0041名無しさん@英語勉強中2012/08/07(火) 16:39:53.23 例文672 △How do you find your washing-machine? △その洗濯機の使い心地はどうですか?

An easier way to phrase is "People of all sorts of ... and customs live in this world" 472 should begin "we saw him on the night that..." 415 has issues with tense disagreement and something else I cannot quite identify. I would probably write a simpler sentence form like "They conversed in Chinese, so I did not understand a single word that they said." 516 is weird because "great books" is plural while the phrase "read __ once only" wants a single thing to read. As I said, some people doubt you are a native English speaker. I pretend to be a native English speaker. But you don't have to take them seriously. People here are somewhat crazy^^ Don't get offended, please.
I can't judge whether the sentences in this book are awkward or not. I don't think all the sentences are natural, neither. So your comments are very helpful. Thank you. 03202842012/08/10(金) 22:04:07.38 I made a mistake.

>>21 182 sounds okay. "February the ninth" is interchangeable with "February ninth." 194 is very awkward. "There live" is uncommon. It should be "read a great book once only." 602 "the better for it" is uncommon. "so much" is useless here. Might as well end with "being better for it."
If anyone else can figure out with 415 please share.
