Sometimes I'd be aware 〜 の would は、既に前に出ている used to と同義。
・最後の一節の 〜 as if by looking hard enough I'll find that place where the two sides of the road meet and unite.
(´·ω·`) 0480名無しさん@英語勉強中 (ワッチョイ b61c-9ecG)2024/03/30(土) 14:40:26.45ID:lBl0a53r0>>435 difficult ... to keep up with the number of people killed で、 殺された人々の数を追うのは困難だ、じゃね?
[keep up] + [付帯状況の with]
[keep up with] + [(the) number (of people) killed]
ご覧の通り、問題の箇所の構造は [keep up with] + [(the) number (of people) killed] と考えられるが、この場合の keep up with はやや説明が必要 かもしれない。
-------------------------------------------------- keep up with 1. It is difficult for software developers to keep up with growing end-user demands. I was trying to keep up with him in the marathon race. I can hardly keep up with advances in ad technology.

Oxford Learner's Dictionaries の定義では、 a person who is emotional and has a lot of imagination, and who has ideas and hopes that may not be realistic と出ている。
・上の文章では、〜 I had become a romantic. I had become a romantic
I had become a romantic
>>474のルース・フェインライトの詩の最終連のくだり 〜 as if by looking hard enough I'll find that place where the two sides of the road meet and unite.

5th April 2024
A key function of the state-corporate media is to deny reality. They do supply news. But it is no accident that they supply news of a type that covers up the crimes of elite power.
However, the appalling violence and destruction being inflicted in Gaza by Israel are simply too great to conceal. We may well be living through an unprecedented era where the vast crimes of the West, and the complicity of major news organisations, have never been more exposed to the public.
Professor Jeffrey Sachs, the US economist and Director of the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University, said in a recent interview:
‘We are seeing a massacre in front of our eyes—it is absolutely inhumane; it is absolutely war crimes; it is arguably, I personally think, likely genocidal according to the legal standards of the 1948 Genocide Convention.’
・may well 1. 〜するのも分かる[理解できる・もっともだ] You may well ask if such a rule is really necessary. You may well think so. The experience of aging may well be different for men and women. He may well have come to the erroneous conclusion.
Director of the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia Universitythe
・〜 it is arguably, I personally think, likely genocidal 〜 ここは文法的には、 it is arguably, (I personally think, likely →) genocidal という構造で、I personally think, likely が挿入句として差し挟まれたものと考えて よかろう。
くどく言えば、 it is arguably genocidal(それは大量虐殺に相当するかどうかは議論の余地がある) and I personally think it is likely genocidal(が、私個人の考えとしては、おそらく 大量虐殺に相当する) という具合に2つの文を合成したものと言える。

way out(=a way to escape a difficult or bad situation)の意味とyouが4回も出て構文がわからななかった文です
do things you know you're good at のところはもちろん things の後に関係代名詞の that(または which)が省略。
things that(または which) you know you're good at(あなたが自分が得意であると 知っている物・事) は、土台となる文章がもちろん you know (that) you're good at the things(あなたは自分がその物・事が得意である と知っている) です。
